Robotman, Robotman, can do whatever a robot can. Cliff Steele gets in a racecar (spell it backwards, try it) accident, gets his brain moved to a robot body and becomes a founding member of the Doom Patrol. His powers have varied but in general he's got the super strength and special features of a robot, much like a Roomba.
For Kids:
I'm calling this one on the higher end of the scale. While he won't have a lot of name recognition he's really cool looking, well made and a robot (kids still like robots, right?). So if your kid likes action figures then this is a good one.
For Adults:
This is a deceptively simple sculpt with the basic body being just that, a basic body. But there are some nice details on closer inspection. The rivets are sculpted onto his head cap and his face is determined looking with just a hint of wrinkles between the eyes giving him a touch of humanity. His mouth is set in a robot "grin" that for some reason invokes images of steam powered machines in my mind (scary place that). There are raised cuffs on his shoulders and wrists with the fingers and hands given some extra robotic detail. Lastly the communicator and straps are sculpted onto his chest.
The color scheme is simple but effective. His primary bronze color is very clean and consistent and surprisingly pleasing to the eye. His eyes are red, his chest communicator blue and white with red straps and he's got black briefs (why does a robot need briefs again?).
Very standard and expected articulation, neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, ab crunch, cut waist, hip joints, cut thighs, pin knees and ankles. It's all what you should expect if you are familiar with DC Universe Classics - enough for great poses without hindering the sculpt.
He comes with his piece of Imperiex. And as an added feature - you can remove the "cap" from his head revealing his purplish / grey human brain. It's a nice touch and sculpted fairly well. Also if you want to reenact that last scene from Hannibal then you're set. ;-)
This is a simple but very solid figure. The combination of the little details and the well done color really make him more than the sum of his parts.
Imperiex is a pretty cool collect and connect (CC) figure. His is black and red armor and cape with lots of gold highlights and sculpted surfaces. It's colorful and imposing at the same time. His face is skeletal with exposed teeth and menacing red eyes in taught wrinkled skin. But he has two issues. One, his head pops into the neck on a really long peg that just drops down into his body so his head just kind of floats with no tightness to the joint so it's like a bobble head if you move him around. He looks fine standing still but you have to finagle the head around to get it just right. Second is his size. Imperiex is supposed to be a planetary threat and huge in size but you wouldn't know it from this nine inch figure. Yeah, I know the days of giant build a figures are behind us (for now) but this guy looks like maybe some Fourth World warrior not the living embodiment of entropy. Despite this he's still a four star figure if only for the amount of detail they packed into him.
