I like this dice kit much better because of its very clear and informative directions. It gives enough background / theory of operation information to be informative without being overwhelming.
A multimeter makes identifying resistors easier. A scope really enhances the value of the kit, so that you can see the waveforms. I happened to have a cheap scope-meter combo on hand, which was very valuable (but not necessary).
Highly recommended to anyone who wants to spend 2 hours on a rainy afternoon learning basic electronics and soldering.

The Pocket Dice is a handy little project to be used with any game of chance. Since it uses CMOS circuitry, it has the advantage of operating off a 9 volt battery (not included).
